Justin Lottig Joins Waste Management of Hawaii As Market Area Environmental Protection Manager

Kapolei, Hawaii, July 3, 2008 – Waste Management of Hawaii has hired Justin Lottig as market area environmental protection manager of its Waimanalo Gulch, Kekaha and West Hawaii landfill sites. Lottig was most recently consulting for Waimanalo Gulch Landfill with Earth Tech, a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services.

“Justin takes his work to heart and believe that all employees must actively participate to ensure environmental protection,” said Joe Whelan, general manager of Waste Management of Hawaii. “We’re lucky to have someone with his passion and expertise as part of our ohana.”

As market area environmental protection manager of Waste Management of Hawaii, Lottig will be responsible for proactively managing and ensuring that all Waste Management landfills are meeting state and national compliance standards. In addition, he will regularly monitor landfill systems including daily checks of the landfill gas systems, leachate system and the appearance of the active working face.

Originally from Somerset County in southwestern Pennsylvania, he holds a Bachelor’s of Science in geosciences with a focus on hydrogeology and is also affiliated with the Hawaii Association of Environmental Professionals.

Waste Management of Hawaii operates Waimanalo Gulch, West Hawaii and Kekaha Landfills as an integral part of each county’s solid waste management infrastructure. The facilities handle municipal solid waste, which is heavily regulated, monitored and controlled by local, state and federal government agencies. In addition to its community contributions and significant volunteer efforts, Waste Management of Hawaii provides a benefit to the local economy of more than $2.9 million annually.
