Waste Management Launches Website
To Provide Recycling and Waste Disposal Information to
Hawaii Residents

Honolulu, Hawaii - November 9, 2005 - - Waste Management of Hawaii’s new website, located at www.KeepingHawaiiClean.com has been created to serve as a community resource on waste disposal, recycling and refuse. The website has updates on recycling, area projects, while providing Hawaii residents with the latest information on how to keep the community clean and environmentally safe.

“This is an active community, and it is important that residents are able to have complete access to timely, targeted information through the Internet,” Paul Burns, Vice President and General Manager for Waste Management of Hawaii. “New information highlighted includes what we are doing to keep the community clean, in addition to information about the landfills we operate in Hawaii.”

“We wanted to make the Waste Management website represent our mission, so we named it Keeping Hawaii Clean,” said Burns. “We hope this website will serve as a direct link to the community, providing comprehensive, local information about waste disposal and also connecting to the needs of our customers - a dialog we aim to make both interactive and interpersonal.”

Whether interested in recycling, Waste Management sponsors community clean-ups, upcoming events, or learning how Waste Management is working to better serve Hawaii, the website is designed to be a connection to company activities. As part of this website, Waste Management has integrated the following areas into its site:

  • Recycling Facts and Tips: Did you know that enough plastic bottles are thrown away each year that the earth could be circled by the refuse four times? The “Recycling Facts and Tips” section of the Waste Management site serves as a destination for learning the value of recycling while also providing information on how residents can maximize their recycling efforts.

  • Community Involvement: Underscoring Waste Management’s commitment to the community, this section provides a glimpse at what programs the company is supporting within the community.

  • Just 4 Kids: Kids can be a part of a Green Team! This section shows kids how to make good habits now to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Help your family to buy items that have already been recycled, such as aluminum and steel cans. Maybe you can even build a compost pile in your back yard or a worm box for composting your fruit and vegetable scraps. Kids can click on the links to play interactive games and puzzles created to be both fun and educational.
Waste Management encourages Hawaii residents to visit their new site at www.KeepingHawaiiClean.com.
