Waste Management of Hawaii Supports Annual Kauai Christmas Parade
Waste Management of Hawaii is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 13th Annual Waimea Christmas Parade with the West Kauai Business and Professional Association. The parade, held since 1995, will take place December 22 stretching from Waimea Canyon to Kaumualii Highway.
Lihue, Hawaii, December 21, 2007 – Waste Management of Hawaii announced today its sponsorship of the 13th Annual Waimea Christmas Parade, the colorful, holiday-spirited event that stretches from Waimea Canyon to Kaumualii Highway. The holiday festivity will take place on December 22 and is highly anticipated each year, offering visitors shopping, dining and entertainment options.
“We are delighted to contribute to the success of the Annual Waimea Christmas Parade with the West Kauai Business and Professional Association,” said Jeff Kaohi, district manager of the Kekaha Landfill. “This event is the highlight for the community during the holiday season, and we wished to do our part to ensure the success of this fun-filled parade.”
Waste Management of Hawaii is a member of the West Kauai Business and Professional Association, a nonprofit organization fostering economic viability with the involvement of community, business and government. Its mission includes improving the economic situation and the quality of life for west Kauai residents and enhancing the environment.
The parade, held since 1995, begins at Waimea Canyon Park and goes down Kaumualii Highway to Ala Wai Road and Waimea Road to end at Hofgaard Park in the center of town.
Waste Management of Hawaii has operated Waimanalo Gulch Landfill as an integral part of the City & County of Honolulu’s solid waste management infrastructure for more than 20 years. The facility is permitted to handle municipal solid waste, which is heavily regulated, monitored and controlled by local, state and federal government agencies. The facility's staff includes 31 full-time employees, many of whom are active in the local community. In addition to its community contributions and significant volunteer efforts, Waste Management provides a benefit to the local economy of more than $2.9 million annually.
